Team DCoy Runs 204 Miles in Memory and Honor of Desmon Rowley
IN LOVING MEMORY OF DESMON ROWLEY
Oct. 21, 1998 to Sept. 20, 2010 Did you know that there is no cure for Crohn's Disease or Colitis? And Four out of eight medications they have found to help put Crohn's and colitis in remission, have been known to cause cancer. It is estimated that as many as 1.4 million Americans have IBD. "TeamDCoy" Chron's and Colitis Foundation has been created to help raise funds for Crohn’s and Colitis awareness and research. This Foundation was created in honor of my niece and nephew, Desmon and McCoy Rowley. Desmon was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at the age of 8. She had a long hard battle with Crohn’s and was diagnosed with Leukemia in December 2009. She had Crohn’s throughout her GI and had taken many medications, and had many surgeries to help put her in remission. Unfortunately they all failed, forcing her to battle both, Crohn’s and Leukemia. She lost her fight on Sept. 20, 2010. A couple of weeks after Desmon started Chemotherapy her brother McCoy was taken to the Emergency Room at the SLC Primary Children’s Hospital. There he was also diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. My sister, their mother, got the call from the ER just downstairs from where she was staying with Desmon. This was another mountain the family was asked to climb and they not only did it with great courage, but also with grace. Myself, my sister, and 4 friends will be taking on the challenge of the Ragnar Ultra Relay. It is a 204 mile relay. We are taking on this challenge in honor of our sweet angel Desmon and all other's that have lost their battle to Crohn's or Colitis, and those whom still suffer with these horrible diseases. Please make a pledge in their honor and help us raise awareness and find a cure. YOU CAN make a difference. |
